Pics & sound in email
start a new email in outlook,
click Format at top ( you can use Apply Stationary here )
and use pics from your stationary file or add new ones to the file
you can also use the Background function & insert Picture - Color - Sound
or use the pic ( icon ) on the tool bar
or actualy use HTML in the source of the email
to do it
start a new email in outlook,
click Format at top
choose , Rich Text [html],
3 tabs will show at bottom of email
now, click the source tab -
you can get in there at any time ,
while writeing the email ,
to insert pics or sounds
if say your pic is in my documents
go to the pic but Don't rt click the file ,
go there and bring the pic up - and rt click on the pic -
choose Properties,
it will actualy have a url in your comp
like - file:///C:/My%20Documents/
the code with the url to insert in the source is -
( example from my comp ) -

to get a wav file is a little diff. -
go where the wave is just like before say ...my documents
( dont open it ) or it will open , Play & close automaticaly - instead - rt click it , then choose Open ,
now choose File on the player , then Properties
then you will see a URL like - "C:\My Documents\gotchya.wav"
the code to insert for that wave is -
<BGSOUND balance=0 src="C:\My Documents\gotchya.wav" volume=0>
sounds can be put anywhere in the source
but pics , just like on web page , anywhere where you want them
top, middle, bottom, anywhere
you can also use real online URLS
for pics just like on the web - <img src="URL of pic ">
but for sounds or wavs -

URL of wav " volume=0>
the embed tag works also but you won't hear it before sending

Create a file and use it as a signature:
1). Open notepad, type the link for your signature using html like
this

2). Now "save as" the file to your computer giving it a name,
like "signature",
but add .html to the filename like
this"signature.html"
3). Now open outlook, follow the instructions below..
tools >options >signature >file >browse >and look for your file.
Click on it, then choose "apply" and then
ok.
Now when you open outlook to send a mail, your
link will appear in the body each time.

Select new mail, then format, then rich text[HTML]
Now, enter the code that you want to convert to non-implemented
into the message box
Now select the source tab at the bottom of the screen.
The non-implemented tags are in the source.

now put in any html you want img codes etc.
& click Tools again and make it say Rich_Text Editor On
your html will be active
images / fonts / etc. will appear in the e mail

sice this post hotmail does have an html editer , just turn it on under ( Tools )
and of coarse AOL has to be different

Migrating Your Mail and Settings
To and From Outlook
If you want to transfer your existing address book,
mail and settings to and from Outlook or Outlook Express,
you have a bit of work cut out for
you.
First, you need to export your mail and
address book to a file and save them to a disk.
You do this by opening Outlook and clicking on
Tools -> Accounts -> Mail.
Just click on the account you want to transfer then
click export.
To save your address book, do a file search on your
computer for *.wab and that will find your address book(s).
just copy this file to your floppy disk, and
you are ready to import this data into your new Outlook.
You can also use these tips to backup your
address book - a good idea.
a quick way to ( view source ) of an e mail
Sometimes, you may want to view the HTML source
of those pretty messages you have received.
Maybe you want to find out how they did that font, neet pic or marquee,
or you're just plain nosy.
To display the raw HTML source of a message in Outlook Express,
open the message and press Ctrl-F2.
This brings up Notepad with the source as a temporary file.
Note that Ctrl-F2 only shows the body of a message, not any of the headers.

Now select the source tab at the bottom of the screen.

You can block emails from certain senders or emails whose subject
lines containing certain words.
This means you can send them to your Delete Bin without even seeing them.
Click on MESSAGE in your toolbar and then select CREATE RULE FROM MESSAGE.
You'll then be able to complete three parts.
The first part is "select conditions": where the subject line contains certain words;
where the message body contains certain words or arrangements of letters;
where the From line contains certain people;
where the To line contains certain people;
where the CC line contains certain people; etc.
Select a condition and then go to the second part.
The second part is "select the actions for your rule":
move it to a specified folder;
delete it; forward it; dont download it; reply to it; etc.
The third part is "rule description".
That's where you type in the specifics.
If you want to delete any emails that have the words
"Snow White" and "mortgage" and "credit" in the subject lines,
just type those words in section three.
now these will automaticaly be deleted
but... you still have to Empty your deleted items foulder !

Outlook Express uses the spelling checker provided with the following
Microsoft Office programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft
PowerPoint.
If you do not have one of these programs installed, the Spelling
command is not available.

there is a little trick you can do to prevent this
before hand ( in case you get one )
put this !0000 as a contact in
your address book
it will be the first one , also it is invalid
the viruses that spread by mailing itself to all
of the addresses in a address list , start with the first one
since
!0000 is invalid the virus cant mail itself or
continue to mailing itself to anyone else on the list
