Christmas Tree Recycling

A Christmas tree with the recycling arrows

What are you going to do with your live Christmas tree when the holiday season is over?

Here are some suggestions:
How about using it as a shelter for animals. All you have to do is put it out back. It takes several trees to make a good habitat, so you ask your neighbors to donate their trees to your pile. You can rotate who has the pile each year so each person has a chance to build a habitat.

Or you could put your tree in your pond (if you have one) for fish and other aquatic creatures to use as shelter.

There are lots of uses for your old tree. Be creative and see what you can come up with.

Please do not put it out with your trash :-(

If you can not think of anything to do with your live tree, recycle it!

Once again, the CCH Solid Waste District will be sponsoring the Christmas tree recycling program. This program will be available to all District residents between December 27, 2005, and January 31, 2006. To participate, all you need to do is to take your tree to one of the drop-off sites listed below.

In return, the trees from Carroll and Harrison counties will be shredded sometime in the spring and made available to anyone who wants to use it as a landscaping material.

There are a few restrictions, however.
You can take your trees to one of the following locations (look for the "Recycle Your Live Christmas Tree Here" sign):

In Carroll County:

In Columbiana County:

In Harrison County:
