The Story...

1768 Britain stations soldiers (four regiments) in Boston, to stop the harassment of customs commissioners.
1770, March 5 Mob begins pelting sentries with snowballs and rocks. As the scuffle progresses, British soldiers kill 5 Americans.
   
1774 John Hancock uses the story to rally colonists. Boston Massacre Oration
