We need
your help in refining the page format, as with every other aspect of the
project. Here are some starting point.
Templates
For now, there are two templates:
Person
Event
Fonts
All of the items on the page use the default font, which is TimesNewRoman.
We didn't set a size for most entries.
The source
note next to the entry uses a font size of -2, rather than fixing the
size at 1). This lets users set their font size larger.
Timeline
If you choose to create a timeline, we have a few suggestions.
- The idea
is to make the top of the page clear to someone just
learning about this person. Try to limit the entries in the timeline
to 5-6. Note the placeholder for a second page with a more detailed
timeline.
- In the
example, we've given both ages and years for events
in Jefferson's life. If you feel that it's significant that someone
accomplished something at a given age, include it. If its later
in their life, go ahead and put the year.
Images
This
is an open source index, so alas, (I think) we can't use commercial clip
art, or other copyrighted or licensed images.
However,
there are lots of historical images in the public domain. If you use one,
we need to know from whence it came.
Images will
be placed in a folder named img.
