St. Louis (Louis IX)

Reform King, Unifier of France, Crusade Leader


The Story
1214 Born to King Louis the eighth in France.
1226 (age 12) Becomes King; his mother (Blanche of Castille) rules in his name until he turns 21.

 

1248 (age 34)

Leads 7th Crusade
1270 (age 56) Joins 8th Crusade. Dies in near Tunis, Africa of typhoid fever.

Thomas Aquinas was often his guest.
