Once the sheathing and Tyvek is on the house, you can begin installing the windows. Good
installers can have the windows and doors installed in a day or two. This saves you a lot
of time and insures that your windows will be weather tight.

Do not cut costs when deciding on the brand of windows as you can lose a lot of heat in the
winter and a lot of cool air in the summer through the windows if you get cheap windows.
Many times the company that you get your windows from will have "truckload" sales where you
can buy the same window for a big discount if you order during certain times of the year.
The process of installing the windows and doors will also be the start of
finding out how good you were with your framing skills. If the windows go in nicely, then
you did a good job, if the opening has to be trimmed or if there is a huge gap, then you
didn't do so good. Out of 30 windows and doors, we had two doorways that were not correct
that had to be corrected. The large number of correct openings is due to the most part to
our dad who cut all of the headers for the windows and doors.
