This Montgomery Ward engine was sold between 1912 and 1915. This relic was sold to me as a parts engine, except that most all the good parts were gone! I located the cylinder head, piston, and a few other things to begin with. The cylinder was bored and sleeved, and the connecting rod length was altered because the rod and the piston were originally in an older style Jacobson engine. I fabricated the valve chamber and manifold, muffler, crankguard, igniter, exhaust rocker, fuel tank, and wagon. Some of the governor parts and the mixer were purchased as reproduction parts. Nearly every part needed some repair or alteration. All parts were replicated to look original, with the exception of the wagon. All the castings were filled with polyester finishing putty and painted with acrylic enamel. It took me nearly a year and a half of spare time to complete this engine.
