Assembling the combustion chamber to the base plate.    Outer water jacket: outer plate made from 1/2" plate, inner plate next to gasket from 5/8" plate, water jacket itself is from 3/16" plate, exhaust outlet from 1-1/2" heavy steel pipe coupling.    Finished head (inlet valve housing and part of manifold assem. on top of head.)

Final assembly.    Prepaint run-in.    These are the parts I fabricated myself. (Some machine work required.)

This Jacobson was also built in Titusville, PA, sometime in the mid to late 20s after the plant in Warren, PA burned.  When I found it, it had been a parts engine when it still had some parts.  It was a base, two flywheels, and a crankshaft when I got it.  Those parts were assembled but had been left out in the weather for years.  I located a used cylinder and a few other pieces, and fabricated several parts from steel with the head being the largest project.  The head was assembled from inside out.  This engine and another Jacobson built engine, being the 4 HP Bulls Eye, came at the same time in December of 1999.
